Joining us for this episode is author and debut memoirist, Heather Sweeney.  She shares her experience as the “ideal” military spouse and the struggles she faced as a stay-at-home mom – being adaptable, self-sufficient, undemanding, and perpetually appreciative, which she chronicled in her memoir Camouflage and other notable publications (New York Times and the Washington Post to name a few!).

Her husband’s career always took priority, followed closely by her children and the unrelenting expectations of military life. Her own desires, voice, and identity were pushed to the side.

Whether you’ve ever stepped foot on a military base or not, I know you’ll see so much of your own “eager to please” patterns in her story. Can’t wait for you to listen!
